Posts: 18 27/12/2008 19:22:39	Tags : None Hi i'm a member of maelor but at the moment i just trot during the winter months but would like to use the fly rod more. What patterns and sizes are generally a good starter on the dee? I know how us fisherman can be very secretive about our main patterns but a few pointers would be greatly appreciated. My home river is the ribble and the hodder both in the upper reaches and would gladly exchange a few ideas and patterns if anyone else fishes this area.

Most patterns I use on the Dee work on the hodder ribble etc size 10 is a good all round size for bugs and size 12-18 for drys although I will use 24s on the right Day. I have fished the hodder several times Have a look at the graylinghunter web site a few flies on there. If you look in the photo section a link exists to the older graylinghunter site some more pics etc flies on there. TIGHT LINES GRAYLINGHUNTER ps heavy bugs are need to get tp the grayling on the bottom. gold heads, czech nymphs, red tag,s pink bugs, klinkhammers tups, adams, red tag, to name few. , Last Edited By: graylinghunter 31/12/2008 19:44:04. I have fished the Jam pot beat (local londis /7/11 type shop now holds the day ticket) We have had grayling up to 2lbs from the upper hodder so i am sure one or two larger gems are in the system. I think price of some of the clubs on the hodder are astronomical!!! So Radac and The Jam pot are reasonably prices for the sport. Posts: 18 31/12/2008 17:41:21	Thats the problem with the ribble and hodder is that there are very few day ticket areas. Luckily bowland game fishing have 3 good beats on the hodder and 5 on the ribble. My pb off the hodder is 2lb 4oz and 2lb 6oz on the ribble though they are very hard to come by but beauties when you do! I aim to give the jampots a go next year as i want to give the 7 ft 3 weight hardy i got this year a go on the little upper hodder. Tight lines and all the best for new year!!
